Just over here absorbing the happy thought that February is Self Love Month
Self Love
Let’s break down the definition…
self-love/ˈˌself ˈləv/noun
- regard for one’s own well-being and happiness (chiefly considered as a desirable rather than narcissistic characteristic).
A little poem for you, from me
The Pebble
A ripple starts by a pebble thrown in still waters
and gains speed along the way.
You are a like a pebble
every moment of every day.
The more love you are,
the more love you will send out.
Ripples of love touch far beyond what you can see,
this happens without a doubt.
A little pebble of self love.
will spark happiness deep inside.
This feeling will be felt beyond your borders
like a ripple through to the waters’ tide.

February is Self Love Month
Throughout the month of February, we will be exploring ways to practice and add a little more self love in our lives. Today we start simply by declaring that this month, we will add new little way of bringing love for ourselves into to our every day.
Like the quote above says…
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
Buddha
Let’s explore this. Let’s explore how we can give ourselves the love and affection we give to others.
I know, I hear you… it is tough! It’s hard not associating self love with selfishness.
This is something that I personally will always struggle with. I, like many believe in putting others first. Everything else seems selfish. But it’s not about that. It’s about looking after ourselves just as we do others. Instead of putting ourselves on the back burner, let’s bring it forward.
And let’s do this together, learn together. Never more than now, this time and this moment has it been true that nourishing ourselves is just as important as nourishing others. If our own tanks are empty, how can we fuel others?
It’s for the good of our mind, body and spirit.
Words associated with self love
Let’s have a look at words that can be associated with the term self love so we might look at the term differently;
- acceptance
- kindness
- truth
- compassion
- confidence
- positivity
- forgiveness
It’s speaking to yourself lovingly, accepting your imperfections, allowing bad days and forgiveness for them. It’s about letting go of what no longer serves you and finding calm within the rough waters. It’s about becoming a better version of yourself FOR yourself and then in turn, for others.
Remember, self love isn’t being selfish.
It is simply filling your tank.
Surrounding yourself inside and out with good vibes that will ripple beyond borders…
