On a mission

I have been on a lifelong skincare mission! Why? Because my skin is ridiculously picky. It didn’t like anything, ever. And trust me, I tried it all! Almost everything available in the drugstore, it’s been in the house. I am not joking, I have thrown away tubes and bottles of expensive shtuff you guys! And somewhere along the way, I started to react to makeup and foundation, well then I could’t even fake glowing skin!

And then by a stoke of luck, a mere few months ago, Nu Skin came into my life. It was then I started to learn about skin and how to treat it properly from the inside out.

Glowing skin from the inside

Let’s start from the inside. Because, if you don’t start there everything else you do is going to be tougher. From the inside here are 3 things you need to be doing for glowing skin;

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Antioxidants & Vitamins
  • Sleep & De-stress

Water

Real water, not sugar water! Real, clean, wonderful water. Seems simple enough right? Think about it, how much water do you actually drink, and don’t kid yourself here! “They” say 8 glasses a day, start with getting a few glasses a day in!

Why is water good for you? We are made of water! Our skin is 64% water (according to healthline.com) seriously, check out the article!

So, what happens when something dries out, it shrinks and gets wrinkly right?!?! Now, what do you think happens to skin without water when our skin is 64% water?!?! That’s right, it gets wrinkly.

Water also flushes toxins, so as if needing to quench your skin wasn’t enough motivation, keep reading to find out why flushing toxins (aka free radicals) is a good idea.

But first, how on earth are you going to drink more water you ask? Keep a glass right by the sink. Every time you go to the sink, guzzle a little. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times (this is a tough one btw). Make it a habit to drink more, however you gotta do it.

Antioxidants and Vitamins

Our bodies carry toxins, also known as free radicals. We are exposed to them everywhere! From natural stressors, to exercising, foods and even our environments. Your body simply and naturally begins to oxidize from these free radicals, kind of like rust forming on a car. It all shows up in the skin.

Therefore eating foods that are naturally high in antioxidants is important along with taking a good multi vitamin and even taking supplements (with water) to increase your antioxidant levels in your blood stream.

  • Dark chocolate (don’t go indulging, everything in moderation)
  • Berries (Strawberries, blueberries, Goji Berries, Raspberries)
  • Pecans
  • Kale, Spinach, Red Cabbage, Beets

And the list goes on, I’ll have to do another post on just that topic I think as well as on the importance of choosing a GOOD multi vitamin. Seriously, careful which one you choose here! (Check this one out). Maybe even add a supplement to help neutralize harmful free radicals (like this one).

Sleep and De-Stress

Yup, I know. Seems impossible. But it is very necessary. Both stress and the lack of sleep seriously dull the skin! Make sure you get plenty of sleep and take a breather here and there to de-stress.

Glowing skin from the outside

Let’s look at the outside, and it does not need to be complicated at all. You can get a simple and effective skin care routine without getting confused.

  • LumiSpa; Cleanse, Massage & Exfoliate (in one!)
  • Hydrate
  • Face Masks
  • Galvanic Spa

These 4 suggestions will help your skin glow again! This all lines up with point number 3 on the inside list, a little self care and some time to de-stress.

Cleanse, Massage & Exfoliate

One little device does it all! Check it out HERE.

Cleanse, removes the debris, dirt, toxins, oil and pollution we filter through our faces through the day. The combination of one or all of these factors clog the pores and dull the skin.

Exfoliate, removes dead skin cells making the surface smoother and more clear.

Massage, improves circulation, relaxes the muscles and stimulates collagen growth,

Hydrate

Along with a good serum, one must also use a good moisturizer! This is an important step after cleansing with the LumiSpa. Use Celltrex Ultra (which comes with your LumiSpa btw) first and then either the Nutritentials line or ageLOC line of moisturizer.

Cellterx fluid from Nu Skin

Personally, I use the Nutricentials Moisture Restore Protective Day Lotion. It’s a simple and effective day lotion. But, if you’re after anti-aging try this one which also has a built in SPF of 22.

For night time, give your skin a little extra love with this one, a night treatment from the Nutricentials line, or this one for anti-aging.

Face Masks

Face masks! Who doesn’t love them? Using a face mask or a marine mud once a week is a fantastic way to have some self care and at the same time, de-stress!

I highly recommend this hydrating mask and this marine mud.

Galvanic Spa

The Galvanic Spa, a high end spa experience at home! Using self adjusting galvanic currents, this device is formulated works with specially formulated treatment products to facilitate the transport of key ingredients to the skin.

This spa helps with reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles along evening the skin tone and radiance! Review the product brochure HERE to see all the benefits this beautiful tool provides.
