Achieving a Dream
We all have goals and dreams, and one of mine is lifeguarding. Since I was 16 I’ve wanted to pursue this certification. 20 years later and this goal of mine is getting closer to becoming a reality.
It doesn’t matter how long it takes or when this goal is made. Working towards the achievement of a goal or dream is what it’s all about.
The road to Lifeguarding
When I was 16 I failed Bronze Cross, didn’t make the time swim due to an asthma attack. I felt defeated and never re-tested. Roll over to 2012 and I retook bronze medallion and bronze cross, I passed! With new filled hope, I was happy at that and did not go further to get the lifeguarding certification.
Now, another 6 years later, I found myself longing to take that step towards getting Lifeguard certified. On this past Friday I passed the Bronze Cross Certification for the second time and will be booking my course for National Lifeguard on Monday (tomorrow). It is going to be hard work, but it will be worth it!
Hard work pays off
I am both extremely excited and extremely nervous. Why? Well, I am now 36 years old and my classmates are between the ages of 16 and 21. I am not letting that stop me, I have trained (and thank goodness for yoga keeping me strong and flexible), I know I can do this which is why the excitement! I am nervous because to do this, to pursue this goal, I have to take time away from our dealership.
This means I have to work twice as hard in less time. I will be juggling our dealership and working out lifeguarding. None of this would be possible without support. I continue to work towards my goal with support from everyone around me, the encouragement is incredible. I could not be more blessed.
What’s your goal? Are you working towards it or have you achieved it? Leave a comment below, I’d love to hear from you!
